Remode Textiles
After the success of Women in Textiles, Remode Collective is delighted to announce its brand-new 2020/2021 project Remode Textiles. This year long project is funded by The National Lottery Awards For All and is going to launch very shortly.
Through the success of previous projects and the work undertaken as a social enterprise Remode collective has created a lovely community made up of staff, a wonderful team of volunteers and a brilliant group of participants. We very much hope to build on this enthusiasm, talent and commitment and harness this into Remode Textiles. Therefore, this group is for those taking part or interested in following the project, as a volunteer or a participant. We will advertise the workshops, online content and zoom meet ups here as well as our Facebook page and website.
Our new project Remode Textiles will host monthly drop in sessions for those from migrant and refugee communites within Edinburgh and the Lothians. For the core programme we will run two monthly sessions one for women “Learn to Sew” and one for men “Mr Stitch” in which participants will have the opportunity learn a range of sewing skills using upcycled and recycled materials. We will also provide online creative textiles workshops, training sessions such as “Inside Your Sewing Box, Materials Matter and Kitchen Table Textiles” as well as providing the opportunity to swap tips and share our creations on Zoom.
Come along to learn new sewing skills (or brush up on old ones) and meet a friendly bunch of folk in a supportive, nurturing and inspiring space whether it’s through this page or face to face when social distancing eases up. In the meantime, join our new Facebook Group for updates:
